FUNdamentals PROGRAM

We host programs throughout the year for beginners and young athletes (ages 6+).  Kids will learn and practice all elements of triathlon to include swim, bike, run & transitions.
Please note: this is not a learn to swim or cycle program!  Kids must be able to swim the length of the pool unassisted and ride a bike without training wheels.

High performance Draft-legal Racing

If your child is interested in competing in draft-legal triathlon please email Alphamultisport@gmail.com.

Draft-legal racing is recommended for experienced athletes ages 13 - 23 years who are ready to compete nationally. The season runs January - August.

Coach Asher

Asher Lauderdale is excited to work with Alpha this summer! Asher has been competing in triathlon for 15 years and currently is a collegiate triathlete at Wingate University in North Carolina. He grew up in Dallas and raced draft-legal triathlon for Playtri before college. He is excited to be back in Texas and to continue coaching the next generation of youth triathletes!

Team Alpha

Alpha Multisport was founded in 2015 to provide the New Braunfels area youth with an outstanding youth triathlon training group without financial barriers. No athlete will ever be turned away for financial reasons. We are extremely grateful to our sponsors who make our vision a reality.

2021

Despite the challenges of Covid, in 2021 we continued to grow our younger Alpha team through FUNdamental sessions as we partnered with the New Braunfels YMCA and the Schertz YMCA. We hosted our final FUNdamentals camp in October and ended with an event at the New Braunfels YMCA on October 31st, for all the kiddos to show off their new skills.

In addition to our little athletes, our High Performance Team (HPT) has grown to 11 members and two of our athletes live in other countries (Columbia and Great Britain) which makes us an international team! We are continuing to develop the Competition team and we look forward to the up and coming athletes.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Two of our HPT athletes, Reese Vannerson (Houston) and Faith Dasso (New Braunfels), were on the podium at the Junior Elite Nationals race this past August

  • Our HPT Mixed Team Relay came in 2nd place at Nationals making a statement for Team Alpha nationally

  • Both Faith & Reese earned their Professional Triathlete license and can race in any professional field in the sport. Faith did her first pro race in Santiago, Chile in November placing 6th

  • Additionally Reese and Faith were selected to race in the PATCO America’s Championship race (St. George, Utah). Faith earned the silver medal for Team USA! Reese was unable to race due to commitments to his cross country team.

  • Faith was one of four females selected to represent Team USA at the Junior World Championships in Portugal in November - she was the top US finisher placing 23rd

2020

The year started off strong with multiple top finishes at the Clermont Draft-Legal Challenge. The Covid-19 Global Pandemic put a long pause on the season for everyone. Athletes across all three teams did their best to train at home through the spring and summer. The HPT was fortunate to have two races over back-to-back weekends in July. Six Alphas won five podiums spots over those two races to finish out the season (National Championships was cancelled due to Covid-19). We are all looking forward to being able to practice together and race more in 2021!

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Clare Dasso won the Girls F1 Race at the Clermont Draft-legal Challenge, besting the rest of the filed by over a minute.

  • In her first Junior Elite Series Cup race, Faith Dasso finished second in Des Moines, IA.

  • Eli Deer posted the second fastest bike split and raced to a top 10 finish in his first Junior Elite Series Cup race in Des Moines, IA.

  • Reese Vannerson won his first Cup Series race, breaking the tape at the Boys Youth Elite race in Pleasant Prairie, WI after placing second the week before in Des Moines, IA.

2016

In order to provide the best possible coaching and development, we set season dates and only accepted kids into the program during a two-week registration period at the beginning of the season. This enabled us to “set the team” and teach triathlon from the ground up.  The team enjoyed great success this year with over 30 youth participating in various multisport events (splash & dash, duathlon, and triathlons) over the course of the 6-month season (February - July).

HIGHLIGHTS:
Two National Champion AG finishers - Faith 12-year-old female, Clare 10-year-old female.  Clare also won the run preem for having the fastest female run split for 10 & under girls.

“Love the outlet these coaches provide to develop kids

into life-long athletes! This is a great group!”
